Scholarships & Awards

CFUW Saanich Peninsula offers annual scholarships at the four high schools in School District #63: Parkland, Stelly’s, Claremont Secondary Schools, and the Individual Learning Centre.

The purpose of this CFUW -Saanich Peninsula award is to benefit a First Nations Woman registered in the final year of a degree, university-transfer or a professional studies program with a goal of achieving a University Degree.

Andrea Sam, from the Snuneymuxw First Nation of Nanaimo, gave a heartfelt speech at the end of the ceremony. She expressed her thankfulness to all her supporters and her sadness to be leaving Camosun.


Post Secondary Awards

  1. The Audrey and Carl Mawby CFUW Saanich Peninsula Award for one or more awards to women undergraduate students studying Canadian or British history in the Department of History.
  2. The Myrna Holden CFUW Saanich Peninsula Award for a woman working toward a degree in the Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science (FECS). Click here to learn more.
  1. CFUW Saanich Peninsula Engineering Technology Award for one student identifying as a woman who is enrolled in the second year of any Engineering Technology Program and who has demonstrated a passion for the career of an Engineering Technologist and is dedicated and supportive of her peers.
  2. CFUW Saanich Peninsula 1st Nations Woman Award for a First Nations woman who has a track record of a satisfactory academic performance, registered in the final year of a degree, university-transfer or professional studies program with a goal of achieving a university degree. Preference will be given to a woman of the W’SANEC’ Nation.
  3. CFUW Saanich Peninsula Women in Trades Foundation Award to benefit one student identifying as a woman who has completed one of the Trades Foundation Programs offered at Camosun. The student will have demonstrated teamwork, respect and safety in class.

Periodically CFUW Saanich Peninsula raises funds to target important community work.  Recent examples:

– $3,000 to the Individual Learning Centre (School District #63) the T.E.A.M. program (Teen Education and Motherhood program).

– $5,000 to the Saanich Peninsula Healthcare Foundation for their Professional Development Fund in support of upgrading the skill set of Licensed Practical Nurses to address the current lack of expertise in several health care specialties.

– Partnership with the Community Literacy Committee and Open Air Library.
