A community forum co-hosted by CFUW Saanich Peninsula and Saanich North and the Islands constituency office, moderated by MLA Rob Botterell, bringing together local seniors, caregivers and service providers to discuss what “aging in the right place” requires and to gather constituent input.

Saanich North and the Islands

Rob was elected MLA for Saanich North and the Islands in 2024. He has dedicated his career to fighting for social and economic justice, as well as environmental protection. His previous work included representing First Nations governments in private law for over 25 years, as well as positions as a financial comptroller for a major Canadian bank, a public servant in the Ministry of Finance, and leading the team responsible for developing provincial laws relating to freedom of information. Dan Levitt

Seniors Advocate for British Columbia

Dan has tirelessly championed the rights of seniors for 30 years at the provincial, national and international levels. Prior to his appointment as B.C.’s Seniors Advocate, Dan held leadership positions in senior-living and long-term care homes in the Lower Mainland for more than ten years where he helped shape a dementia-friendly future for seniors and their loved ones. He was an adjunct professor of gerontology at both Simon Fraser University and a former sessional instructor at the British Columbia Institute of Technology. He has also been a surveyor with Accreditation Canada, reviewing quality improvement and person-centred care at long-term care homes and community-based service providers across the country. He is a certified health executive with the Canadian College of Health Leaders and achieved Fellowship status in the college in July 2024. Tricia Sexton-Earl

CEO of Beacon Community Services

Tricia was appointed CEO of Beacon Community Services in June 2021. Prior to joining Beacon, she led the Canadian Veterans Vocational Rehabilitation Services program on behalf of March of Dimes Canada and WCG Services. Her professional background includes more than 20 years of executive and senior leadership positions in community, employment and vocational rehabilitation services across Canada. A Certified Vocational Rehabilitation Professional and Registered Rehabilitation Professional, she holds an MBA degree in Executive Management from Royal Roads University and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Economics from the University of Victoria.. Dr. Jonas Bambi

University of Victoria School of Health Information Science

Jonas is an Assistant Professor in the School of Health Information Science at the University of Victoria, Faculty of Health. His career spans two decades in healthcare Information Management and Information Technology (IMIT), where he has held progressive roles as a clinical application analyst, senior systems analyst, team lead, clinical applications manager, clinical systems integration architect, project manager, and co-director of Applied Health Data Analytics. This breadth of experience has shaped his ability to bridge technical expertise with clinical, organizational, and policy perspectives, influencing leaders and supporting health system transformation.
