Dear Ms. Currie,
I would like to express my gratitude for this generosity and support of my studies. I am grateful to have been selected as a recipient of this scholarship.
I chose the University of Victoria because they had both the programs I aspire to learn and it is a beautiful campus. I would like to explore British history and World War history. To become a curator I am pursuing courses in multiple subject areas, to broaden my knowledge and understanding.
My favourite highlight of my education so far has been my two exchange terms at the University of Iceland. I learned about Nordic history, religion, and beliefs.
This year I have joined the Icelandic Club of Victoria and I look forward to meeting other Icelandic descendants. I will be volunteering at the British Columbia Aviation Museum in Saanich beginning this fall. I am very interested in the practices associated with curating this museum. Quite soon I will become a mentor to a group of international students at UVic. I was an exchange student last year and I would like to help these students have a great year in Canada. I play the violin and mandolin as well. This year I have decided not to take an instrument with me to school.
I plan on completing my bachelors degree in 2027 and then working afterwards. I would like to complete my master’s program in Nordic History at the University of Iceland. My study abroad terms have helped me find other historical subjects that I am interested in. My plan afterwards us to work in the UK as a curator and learn more about British history while there.
Again, I am so grateful for this generosity.
Sincerely,
Emily Schwartz
